Bedspread Information
Bedspread
Fabrication
All bedspreads are quilted with a 60x fill. White or off-white
multifilament nylon thread to be used. Quilt patterns
available include Diamond, Wavy Diamond, Onion, Double
Onion, 2" or 3" Channel. Bedspreads made with
patterns on 54" wide fabric will be seamed and pattern
matched by preseaming. Bedspreads made with patterns on
126" wide fabric will be seamless. Quilt pattern
will be continuous through entire spread, with equal stitches
consisting of 8 - 10 lock stitches per inch. Throw style
with a 1" single needle hem and an 18" pillow
tuck is standard. Options may include, but are not limited
to, gusset fitted corners, waterfall corners, and reversible
pillow tuck.
Bedspread
Fabrics
Face fabrics to be a minimum of 4.5 ox 100% polyester.
Lining is 60/40 cotton polyester, white in color. Fill
will be 100% resinated virgin polyester, and one continuous
solid sheet extending the entire width and length of spread
without seams or joining.
Corner
Style
The two bottom corners of the bedspread can be various
styles. Most common is a throw corner that bells out.
For a fitted look, the sides can tuck under a flap that
cascades off the foot of the bed. For a different fitted
look, the bottom and sides can be tight to the bed wit
a gusset inset at each bottom corner to give a bit of
flair. The gussets can be the same fabric or a contrast
fabric. Lastly, the bottom corners can be sewn together
to create a cap that fits onto the bed.
Drop
The drop is the measurement of the depth of bedspread
that hangs from the top of the mattress down. Typically,
a coverlet will have a 9" or 14" drop, depending
on whether there is a box-spring. The rest of the depth
to the floor will be covered by a dust ruffle. Or, a bedspread
has a drop of around 21" and the sides will fall
all the way to the floor.
Quilt
Pattern
Standard quilt patterns are onion and diamond. Other quilt
patterns, including outline quilting, are available at
an added cost to the customer.
Fill
Weight
The batting sewn between the top of the bedspread and
the lining is called poly-fill. So, the density of this
poly-fill determines the loft and the warmth of the bedspread.
Typically, a six-ounce poly-fill is used, but the customer
can choose to pay extra for eight-ounce fill.
Pre-seamed
In order to make a bedspread as wide as it needs to be,
multiple widths of fabric may need to be sewn together.
To save fabric and labor costs, the widths are cut one
after the other down the length of the fabric and sewn
together. This technique means the print of the fabric
will fall in an unorganized fashion across the multiple
widths. However, the fabric can be cut and sewn so that
the print matches all the way across the multiple widths
of fabric. This technique uses more fabric and requires
more skilled labor, so it will cost the customer more.
Reverse
Sham
Instead of the included pillow tuck, a customer could
choose another method to cover the pillows. The bedspread
is made to the length of the bed plus the drop. Then a
flap of the quilted fabric is sewn to the top of the bedspread.
The pillows are placed on the spread and under the flap.
This method requires and additional cost.
Welt
in Hems
For added decoration, a bead of welting can be sewn to
the edge of the spread. The welting can be of the same
fabric or a contrast fabric. This decoration adds to the
cost of the bedspread.
Four
Rounded Corners
For added decoration, a customer could choose to have
all four corners of the bedspread bell out. Adding a throw
corner to all corners adds an additional cost to the bedspread.
